Significance
Thiruparankundram is where Lord Murugan married Devasena (Deivayanai), the daughter of Indra, after his victory over the demons. The temple represents Murugan's aspect as the divine householder and is considered one of the most important Shaivite pilgrimage sites.

Historical Importance
